Overview of Azure AI

Getting Started Introduction

Setting Up Your Azure Environment

Now we understand the landscape and what we can do, let's get everything set up. To begin with, you'll need a Microsoft account.

If you're with an educational institute, your institute email may already have Microsoft access.

Free Credits on Sign-up

Note:

We do encourage you to complete this introductionary course within the timeframe of your free credits, so that you don't incur any of the costs yourself.

However, we will be using only those options avaiable to the free tier which tend to be low cost. Under the free account not all of the compute power - such as GPU's- are avaiable. If you wish to use these services after your free credits, please talk to the IT department at your university/institute for access to their tenant, which will have increased compute availability (quota) compared to a standard pay-as-you-go account.

Accessing Key Platforms

After creating your account, navigate to the Azure portal (portal.azure.com) to access the following research-relevant tools:

Virtual Machines

Access via the Azure portal under Compute section

Machine Learning Studio

Accessible through Azure AI services

AI Services

Available from the Azure portal AI section

AI Foundry

Located within Azure AI Studio

We will have a later section go through a more thorough navigation of the Azure portal by Microsoft.
